This review is written mainly for Dyson owners that are considering the multi-vac. I own and LOVE a Dyson DC07 Animal, one of their oldest models on the market. It was my best friend for years until we pulled up our carpet and put down laminate flooring in every room of the house except for three bedrooms. New flooring meant a new method of vacuuming and the Dyson just couldn’t meet my new needs. After reading the mixed online reviews, I bought the multi-vac on blind faith having been mesmerized by their online commercial.
It is every bit as wonderful as the Dyson for vacuuming my bare floors! It picked up glitter from holiday decor, animal fur, my own long hair, shredded paper, corn flakes, mystery crumbs, and half-eaten bits of dog/cat kibble. It really does pick up both big and tiny debris – even better than my Dyson. Plus, I didn’t have to pass over the same debris over and over to pick it up – one pass and done. I can quickly vacuum my kitchen floor then un-clip the hose to vacuum crumbs off the counter tops. I have picked up larger debris from my carpeted areas like sock fuzzies, tiny hair rubber bands, and even long strings from dog toys. There is no beater brush, so I will use my Dyson to deeply clean the carpet – but for everyday upkeep, the multi-vac works just fine.
I agree that it takes a little patience to put the vac together. It also comes with a little learning curve when it comes to changing from one kind of vac to another. I’m getting faster at it and don’t mind the “trickiness.”
Below is my comparison between the multi-vac and my Dyson.
Multi-vac’s light weight and swivel head maneuvers better than the Dyson, especially since I had to use the bare floor tool and hose all the time with the Dyson.
Multi-vac’s cord is shorter than the Dyson’s. It’s not terrible, but with the Dyson I can vacuum a whole level from one outlet.
Multi-vac’s dust cup is smaller than the Dyson. This is bad because it has to be emptied more often but good because it’s easier to pick out accidental clean-ups (like the tiny accessories from toys).
Multi-vac’s dust cup is more difficult to empty than the Dyson. It’s not too bad, but I’m spoiled by the ease of the Dyson.
Multi-vac is easier to haul around and carry up/down stairs. There’s a handle that “balances” it’s weight so it won’t clunk you in the shins.
Multi-vac has a VERY low clearance compared to the Dyson so I can vacuum under my furniture without moving it!
Multi-vac has better suction on bare floors.
Multi-vac performs worse on carpets.
Multi-vac has the same accessories as the Dyson (I think). The multi-vac’s brush is connected to the crevice tool and pops up to put it in use (and sometimes pops back down on its own) and it isn’t as good as the Dyson’s.
Multi-vac’s “power brush” for picking up animal hair works as well as or better than the Dyson’s. I don’t really use this tool much.
In short, Dyson users should not hesitate to buy this multi-vac to out-perform on your bare floors. It won’t replace your Dyson, but it’s an awesome everyday supplement.

After hearing my friend (who just happens to be a male) rave about his new Shark and realizing that I really needed a new vacuum that didn’t need to be banged around and out-smarted to function….I decided to purchase this Shark with it’s funky design. For $79 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond plus the 20% I figured that I had nothing to lose because A. any new vacuum that I purchase will be in the similar price range B. I needed a new vacuum regardless and all of the previous ones have held a life span of 3 years or less.
With this said, I live in a one bedroom apartment (1,000 s.f.) with 2 cats, a boxer, and my husband. Even though I clean the apartment throughly once a week, the animal hairs and traffic throughout the apartment accumulates quickly. The results were unbelievable, vacuuming the entire place I had to empty the dispenser twice. Cat hairs on the couch were no longer a struggle (and yes I had the small pet attachment on the old vacuum). Kitty Litter on tile (which used to require me on my hands and knees with the vacuum hose towing around the cumbersome unit) has been conquered with the quality design suction and requires vacuuming no differently than if I was on carpet. The suction head fits neatly under the sofas allowing me to pick up more crumbs, pet hair, etc. And the Shark’s unit “backsaver” is really just that, all you do is press a button near the handle and the entire vacuum unit lies flat minus the handle allowing you to reach underneath hard to reach places (i.e. dining room tables, sofas, beds) Another favorite part is that the canister comes out of the frame and it becomes a little hand held making it easier to clean ceiling fans, sofas, and steps to name a few. Plus the Shark is backed by a 5 year warrant which guarentees me that this vacuum will last longer than the previous
I just get excited talking about this vacuum cleaner and my husband who avoids helping me clean house like it’s the plague now offers to vacuum.
To break it down the Pros are:
great suction
easily picks up kitty litter from tile
easily picks up pet hair
light weight
easy to use
great price
removable canister for a hand held device
washable filters (includes 3)
3 attachments
Swivel Steering
backsaving lever
5 year warranty
easily stores away
no need to adjust or transition between tile/wood floors to carpet
Cons (as if there could be any)
taking the canister out of the frame can be a bit tricky at first
the vacuum takes 30 minutes to put together out of the box
the hose could be a bit longer
the bin that collects the debris is small in comparison to other vacuums
when using just the hand held, the canister sometimes gets loose and disengages itself; however, the contents do not spill out thanks to a better locking system used. (if you place your thumb on the righ hand side of where the handle and canister meet, this small problem can be overcome)
After a month of proudly owning the Shark I’ve been bragging about it to everyone and anyone who listens. I hope that in 5 years I will be able to continue bragging about it and I’ll be sure to update this if there is anything more to be said

I was hesitant about buying this vacuum when I saw the star rating; that is until I read all the reviews and saw that it met my needs perfectly. I basically needed a light weight vacuum for my hardwood floors and tile with a brush attachment for vacuuming my fabric furniture like couches and chairs. This vacuum performs great. As other reviewers said, the suction on it is fantastic and the brush attachment does an amazing job of getting the cat hair (I have 3) off my furniture (way better than my Dyson’s brush which leaves much to be desired). It’s easy to vacuum under furniture and the head swivels very easily. It doesn’t really have good side suction for vacuuming along baseboards but does well if you vacuum head in.
Some things that I don’t like about the vac are things the other reviewers mentioned such as the collection cup coming off too easily and the slight learning curve when you first put together the vac. Other than that, it’s actually quite easy to take the vac apart and put it back together once you get how it works. The collection cup size is small but fine for me and my 1300 sq ft. of hard surfaces. The cord length is decent. I wish the cord holder flipped down like the Dyson so it’s easy to unravel it and I also wish there was a strap attachment so when I’m using the hand held with the brush attachment, it’s easy to hold on to (like on my shoulder rather than it flopping around since I need both hands to vac the couch). I also can’t seem to find an on-board area for the crevice/brush tool (either it doesn’t exist or I just can’t find it). I also don’t think the filter is a hepa one (I could be wrong) which is always a good thing. I haven’t really tried to vacuum a rug with it- I can imagine as the other reviews said wouldn’t do much but that’s what my Dyson is for.
All in all, if you have lots of hardwoods and tile that’s easy to carry around (like if you have 3 flights like I do) and something to vacuum furniture, this vacuum is perfect for the job. Even though it’s not perfect, I had to give it 5 stars for the excellent suction and function.

I just got this vacuum in the mail. I paid only $49.99 for it and shipping was free on a “one day only” deal. I read the sub-par reviews and decided to go with it anyway. I must say, I am glad I did.
It was easy to set up, only taking me about 10 minutes and it works great for all of my hard floors and rugs. It does a decent job on my carpets, not the best, but it gets the job done. I gave it 5 stars because it is a great vacuum for the money! If your house is all carpet, I would not recommend this vacuum, but since I only have two small bedrooms with carpet, this gets the job done.

Wasn’t hard to put together, but then again, I read manuals and follow directions. I can see where it might be difficult for someone who tries to “figure” things out.
One of the features that appealed to me was the washable filters. Once they get clogged, it’s easy to wash and restore suction power without having to find the filters in a store or order them online and end up spending more money.
It has 2 attachments, great for cleaning the car or couch. Powerful suction. At first I was put off by the fact that I could not find out how many amps it was, but it picks up kitty litter and also some rock & gravel (from a busted aquarium).
Great for hard floors/bathrooms. Not so great for carpet –it’s just more work to push because of the suction.
This works so much better than a Dustbuster. I hate cordless mini-vacs because they are constantly plugged in, and the vac seems weaker as a means to hold the charge longer. This has a long cord, and I love using it to clean my car and trunk.
Power switch is on the handle of the machine, which is half-way down from the top. The upright is simply a holder for the vac, so you can use it on floors.
–update–
I’ve had this for 6 mos and it still has very good suction.

I bought this as a gift and i have since used it myself. I will have to say this is a very good product. It works well on carpet and on tile. The sucking power is unlike any other vacuum I ave seen before. The multi-directional movement work well. This is great if you want something like the dyson ball but don’t want to pay the heavy price tag.

This vacuum is simply amazing for pets and hard floors. It has no brushes for hair to be caught in and a wide suction. It is nearly flat, so easily slides under furniture and is able to suck up all the dirt and hair along the edges. The swivel enables it to drop below to reach even further under furniture and if you want to hold the canister you can reach completely under anything. There is easy access to the attachments and the pet hair remover one is fantastic. It also picks up large items like leaves and acorns that might be dragged in and will vacuum over most rugs. Highly, highly recommended if you have hard floors and pet hair to manage.

The flooring in my entire house is terrazzo, and I have a dog, three cats, and a bunny. Sweeping had always been one of my biggest chores around the house. But until lately I didn’t mind.
Now, however, I’m pregnant and have been having lots of back pain, so using a broom and dustpan every day is just not practical for me. I bought this Shark Vac about 3 months ago, and I love it. It’s so easy for me to use, and with the ‘backsaver’ feature I don’t have to do a lot of pushing and twisting when I use it. It’s been a lifesaver for me, because if I had to leave the floors to my husband to do they’d never get done.
I especially love the pet hair attachment, the spinning brush is excellent at removing dog and cat hair that is stuck in the couch fabric. And the attachment is easy to open and clean the spinning brush (I have long hair so it’s inevitable that some gets stuck on the brush now and then).
There are a few steps to converting this vac from one mode to another, and the first two times I used it I needed the manual, but honestly I was a pro the third time I used it. It’s not at all difficult once you get used to it.
The one downfall of this vacuum is that it wouldn’t work well on carpet. There is no spinning brush on the ‘floor cleaning’ part of the vac. It’s really more of a hard floor vac. But for me, it’s PERFECT!

We have a two-story house and wanted a small second vacuum so we wouldn’t have to keep lugging one up and down the stairs. This thing is surprisingly well made and really unbeatable at this price ($40 at Amazon). Removing the dirt cup and converting the vacuum into a hand vac or other configuration takes a bit of practice, but it’s definitely easy once you get the hang of it.
Pros:
Great suction for such a small vacuum – picks up just about anything
Very light and easy to push/carry
Low price
Well-made, good build quality
Cons:
No rug brush on the vacuum, although there is a small attachment you can use that has a brush (for furniture, etc)
On/off switch is not conveniently located
So in conclusion, it works great on tile or wood floors. It’s probably never going to be your primary vacuum due to the lack of a rug brush – but it still works great on carpet and will pick up anything other than very deep carpet dirt. Also, the mouth of the vacuum is somewhat small, so if you have a LOT of carpet you would end up pushing this thing forever. Still, I give it five stars without hesitation, because I feel it does exactly what it was designed to do and at a great price. If you’re buying this as a second vacuum or to clean tile or wood floors, you won’t be disappointed.

I have lived in several hard floor houses and have always used a shop vac for vacuuming. A shop vac will pick up anything, but you have to hold the handle just right, the handles are never long enough, and they lack a lot in the air filter department. After keeping 2 huge hairy huskies for a year, I needed something easier to use and after reading many reviews on here, I decided on this vacuum cleaner.
I could not be happier with my purchase! This thing is like a shop vac that stands up and has air filters. It actually picks up more than my shop vac does and with more ease.
This vacuum is made for bare floors, rugs, and anyone who owns a hairy pet. It picks up dog hair and sand like a pro. It easily picks up the dog hair off of my big area rugs. The lack of a beater bar means less hair getting caught in it and you having to cut it off of the bar. The swivel head makes it easy to turn around furniture or any place you see dirt and hair. I also like the pet attachment. It is very powerful, has a beater bar, and cleaned all the dog hair from my couches (You have to have a beater bar for couch cleaning…It’s like carpet cleaning). The vacuum does has a wide pick up area for just a suck vacuum, which easily picks up stuff even when next to base boards and walls. This is the first time I have vacuumed my floors and felt nothing on them afterwards.
One thing of note: I have used 3 different Shark type vacuums. They are amazing at picking up dirt and dust. They are so good that you need to clean the filters in between use or they will over heat. I don’t mean just the canister part either. I usually empty the canister a few times during use, but I have a 75 lb and a 55 lb husky.
